This proposal encompasses academic writing in both native and foreign/additional languages and seeks to establish a forum for the exchange of ideas and ongoing research that can serve as resource for students, educators, and professionals in different fields of knowledge. Academic writing has been a challenge as it involves the construction of knowledge in a specific area and mastery of linguistic functioning in academic literacy. To understand the impact of this linguistic functioning on the development of science, whether in an institutional or professional context, more reflections are needed that connect theory and practice with academic writing and that can establish parameters for understanding the specificities of different fields of knowledge and the purposes and interlocutors with which these knowledge areas share and form a discursive community.

Research articles, case studies, and pedagogical proposals that contribute to the development of academic writing in different areas of knowledge and professional practices will be accepted. Articles in the languages specified by the Horizontes em Linguística Aplicada Journal will be accepted.
