Abstract

The use of generative design methods has been common in large buildings with complex architectural programs. There are few examples of the use of these processes in small buildings. This research demonstrates how to use parametric generative design methods in the development of small architectures. The choice for this architectural scale starts from the perception that most architects will work with this category of project. When using parametric strategies in the design of individual housing, it is possible to assist in the dissemination of these methodologies. Initially, a design program for single-family housing was defined. This program was parameterized using Grasshopper and Rhinoceros, resulting in a parametric model. From this initial model, geometric variations were performed to produce new volumetric solutions. The use of parametric modeling allows the designer to have extensive control over the designed element. This approach makes it possible to quickly obtain a set of solutions, by manipulating the variables and relations that characterize the object.
