Resumen

One of the major problems Brazilian high school teachers face is that they have very few hours to teach the English language in formal schooling. Though we defend public policy regarding foreign language teaching should be reviewed in order to shift this scenario, it is important to think of immediate solutions to enhance the opportunities of access to English learning for these students. This leads to our interest of analyzing digital technologies and their integration in the school curriculum, specifically the use of digital games. Following the Complexity Paradigm as theoretical background, we have conducted an investigation of the game Trace Effects and how it can be used with high school students. The results of the analysis show the complexity of the process of becoming engaged in language learning.
